WBBCC speaks at Save the Mary River Coordinating Group’s 3rd Anniversary Do.
Save the Mary River Coordinating Group (STMRCG) held a public information day and rally at Traveston Crossing on Sunday26th April showing that 3 years since the announcment was made, the protest is still as strong as ever.
Roger Currie-WBBCC Vice-President and Water Policy Officer made a short presentation to the public about the progress of the legal case WBBCC launched against Burnett Water Pty Ltd for an alleged breach of the approval conditions for Paradise Dam, regarding Lungfish, under the EPBC Act 1999.
This case is last chance to halt The Traveston Dam in its tracks as it cannot be approved by the Federal Environment Minister until the outcome of this legal case is known, as QWI plans to use the same fish transfer device used at Paradise Dam, currently under examination through the legal case.
Many protesters present made donations to the legal case, understanding that this case may well be the last avenue in which Traveston can be stopped.
If you would like to make a donation, please read the information on our ‘Donate’ page, then click on the blue donate buttonon the right hand side of your screen.
The case has been set down to begin on the 7th of September 2009 and is expected to take up to 4 weeks.
